Reports that it does not work with the Santa theme villages, preferring to offer something it considers better quality. Day trips are from London or Manchester to Rovaniemi, then coach to a ‘private location'. Thermal clothing is provided, including for children.

Activities include reindeer sleigh rides, snowmobile treks, ice fishing, tandem skiing, reindeer lassoing, and a husky sleigh drive. There is also a ceremony to celebrate crossing the Arctic Circle, a hot lunch and hot drinks through the afternoon including Lappish Kota (a Lappish house). Then meet Santa, a family at a time, at the end of a candlelit trail by horse drawn sleigh. A gift from Santa is included.

The trip is considered not ideal for under 4s because it is a long day.

Four and six-day trips are also offered, including Saariselka, a neighbouring winter resort with the accommodation. Day 2 is a day on a reindeer farm and cross the Arctic Circle and lunch in a wooden Kota, and some of the outdoor activities and at dusk a sleigh ride through the forest in search of Santa. Day 3 children are tucked into sleighs to a husky farm learning how huskies are trained and driven and there is a chance to try it personally. Lunch is overlooking a national park followed by toboganning down. Finally there is a traditional Finnish meal with ‘surprise guest. On the final day there are more optional outdoor activities. There are three hotel options, all three-star.

Prices

From £449 for adults and £395 for children 4-11 years, for day trips. A four-day trip costs from £969 per adult, £654 for a child sharing a room with two adults.
