Holidays by Destination Europe France Roussillon When to Go

The region boasts that the coast offers 300 days of sunshine a year. This is probably true, even up on the Cerdagne plateau, but the tourist offices don't mention the Tramontane, a wind from the northwest which can cool things considerably when it blows.

This can be helpful when temperatures are rising to the mid 30s but can make it chilly off season. As the sand is rather heavy the wind is less of a problem on the beach than it might be but you should probably plan some non-beach activities in case.
