July and September are particularly bad so (August slightly less so), although the weather will generally be warm, are worth avoiding. Winters can be bitterly cold but if frosty or snowy, terribly romantic - fine for well wrapped up, slightly older children but not really little ones, and not much good for venturing out into the country.
