Recommended camp sites?

The family have just returned from a curtailed camping trip in Shell Island, Wales.

It was ideal - big site, no bookings so first come first served, great location, beaches. Down side was very very unlucky with the weather - strong winds and heavy rain. Hence the curtailing of the trip.

Can anyone recommend any similar sites, either in the north west (where relatives are) or the south east (where we are)?
